What Meetups do for your writing

mandmsWriting may be a solitary business, but you don’t have to do it alone.  The recent phenomenon of “meetups” allows writers to gather together in one place and write by themselves.  Crazy as it sounds, being with other writers while working on one’s own material motivates you to keep going on your various projects.  My “meet up” group is hosted by Lynn Goodwin, an upbeat intentional writer.  Every Tuesday, between 7-9, we gather at her house.  We begin by sharing what we’ll do; we write; we end by sharing what we accomplished.  We go home with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction and are motivated to keep going over the coming week.  We return the following Tuesday for another round of writing and motivation.  While we’re all writers, others have meetups for hiking, for sports fans, for astrology, for free thinkers, for book lovers, for anything under the sun.  Try it sometime.
